Château de la Punta, Protected castle in Alata, France.

Château de la Punta is a castle in Alata, Corsica, sitting at about 600 meters in elevation with multiple facades showing different architectural approaches. The structure combines various building styles and was constructed using materials with a particular origin story.

The castle was built between 1883 and 1891 using stone salvaged from the Tuileries Palace in Paris after it burned in 1871. These materials from a historic Paris building were transported and incorporated into the Corsican structure.

The castle displays a mix of architectural styles that reflect the preferences of wealthy owners in the late 1800s. Visitors can observe the different design elements visible across the rooms and exterior surfaces.

The property is not currently open to visitors as it remains in private ownership under protection. Access to the location is only by a winding road that passes through wooded terrain in this mountainous area.

The building suffered a major fire in 1978 and was later recognized as endangered cultural property. The damage from that fire remains visible today, showing how fragile this historical structure is.
