Clocher porche de Mimizan

The square brick bell tower features a large arched entrance portal and an octagonal spire covered with chestnut shingles at its summit.

Built in the 12th century, this remaining structure of the former Benedictine priory served as both a bell tower and entrance gate to Saint Mary Church.

The entrance portal displays medieval polychrome sculptures depicting biblical scenes, making it one of the most notable architectural ensembles in Landes.

The tower opens to visitors from March through November, with entrance fees of 5 euros for adults while children under 18 enter free.

The facade contains painted decorations from the 15th century showing scenes of Christ's Passion across 26 square meters of surface.
