Domaine des Treilles

Domaine des Treilles is a large estate in Tourtour that spans hundreds of hectares and integrates agricultural land with olive groves, lavender fields, and vineyards. The property comprises multiple interconnected buildings, an extensive library, and various spaces designed for conferences and collaborative work.

Anne Gruner Schlumberger acquired the estate in 1960 and initiated a comprehensive transformation in which existing buildings were connected through architectural renovations. This project of unification and modernization extended over two decades and shaped the property's present structure.

The estate functions as a meeting place for writers, philosophers, and researchers who engage in ongoing intellectual dialogue. Visitors experience a setting where creative and scholarly work happens daily through formal gatherings and informal exchanges.

The property sits at about 600 meters elevation and offers various areas to explore, from agricultural fields to buildings with interior spaces. The swimming pools on the grounds serve a dual purpose as water reserves for emergency fire-fighting systems throughout the property. This practical design ingeniously combines recreation with safety infrastructure.
