Domaine skiable du Dévoluy, Winter sports resort in Hautes-Alpes, France

Domaine skiable du Dévoluy links the SuperDévoluy and La Joue du Loup resorts on the slopes of the Dévoluy massif in the Hautes-Alpes. The two base areas face each other across a wide snowy bowl, with a steep rocky outcrop on one side and a rounded ridge on the other; a line of thin poles marks the slope between them. The linked lifts serve runs from the beginner fronts up toward the Sommarel and Festoure sectors.

Skiing in Dévoluy began in 1937 with the Étoile sportive club, and a movable 300-metre snow wire was set up at Enclus in 1952. SuperDévoluy opened on 17 December 1966, followed by La Joue du Loup on 17 December 1976. The two domains merged from 1981, and since 2018 the mixed-economy company owned 60% by the commune has managed the area.

The name Dévoluy comes from the massif, and the two base villages keep separate identities: SuperDévoluy, opened 17 December 1966, and La Joue du Loup, opened 17 December 1976. A bus shuttle links them, and the lift company is now a local mixed-economy body 60% owned by the commune. In June 2018 skier Cyprien Sarrazin raced a spring giant slalom in the combe du Sommarel.

The two base areas, SuperDévoluy and La Joue du Loup, sit at 1,500 m and are linked only by a shuttle bus, so plan transfers between them. Road access is via the D 937 from the south through the col du Festre toward Veynes and Gap, or the D 217 from the north through the défilé de La Souloise. The snow front and beginner zones were remodelled for 2014-2015.

On the nearby Pic de Bure sits a major astronomical observatory that conducts research from its high-altitude location. This scientific facility shares the mountain with the popular ski slopes.
