Espace des Sciences

Espace des Sciences is a science center in Rennes featuring three exhibition halls, an interactive laboratory, and a planetarium. The venue presents displays on scientific topics across multiple spaces designed for visitors to learn and engage.

The center began in 1984 as a scientific association and relocated to the Les Champs Libres building in 2006. The architect Christian de Portzamparc designed this modern facility.

The permanent exhibitions explore how science relates to everyday life and human curiosity. Displays show scientific breakthroughs across different fields through hands-on demonstrations and visual explanations.

Plan to spend several hours exploring all exhibition areas and the planetarium to get the most from your visit. Weekends tend to be busier, so arriving early helps you move through displays at your own pace.

The Merlin Laboratory contains 30 interactive modules where you conduct your own experiments and develop scientific observation skills. This hands-on learning approach works for visitors of all ages and abilities.
