Fondation des États-Unis

The Fondation des États-Unis is an Art Deco student residence in Paris's 14th arrondissement featuring a U-shaped layout with a central section on Boulevard Jourdan. The building houses 275 rooms, shared kitchens, study spaces, a library, computer facilities, and music studios for international residents.

This residence opened in 1930 through funding from American donors, including Ambassador Myron T. Herrick and nineteen United States universities. It was created to establish a transatlantic educational bridge and provide international students with a home in Paris.

The Grand Salon contains restored frescoes by Robert La Montagne Saint-Hubert depicting different periods of French art history. These wall paintings were rediscovered in 1994 and reflect the artistic values cherished within this residence.

The building can be viewed from outside and some areas are accessible to visitors, though it remains an active student residence. Check ahead about visiting hours and accessible areas since daily operations take priority.

The building contains seventeen dedicated art and music studios where residents can develop creative projects during their stay. This integration of artistic spaces within a student residence is uncommon and reflects the original vision of blending culture with education.
