Saint-Pierre church, Modern church in Firminy, France

Saint-Pierre Church features a truncated cone structure made of concrete, rising 33 meters with a square base of 25 meters on each side.

The construction started in 1971 based on Le Corbusier's 1963 design, remained incomplete until 2003, and was finally finished in 2006 under Jose Oubrerie's supervision.

The church incorporates numerous small glass perforations on its east facade, creating patterns of natural light that reference the Orion constellation throughout the interior.

The lower levels contain exhibition spaces belonging to the Saint-Etienne Museum of Modern Art, while the main sanctuary requires paid admission for visitors.

The construction required over one hundred specialized concrete formworks, with 85 wooden corner molds designed using 3D software in the early 2000s.
