Hôtel Aubriot

Hôtel Aubriot is a private mansion in Dijon with a cellar spanning multiple bays and supported by octagonal pillars. The ribbed vault structure demonstrates the quality of medieval construction technique.

Construction of the mansion began in the early 13th century as Dijon's urban development expanded. The building underwent major renovation in the 18th century to meet contemporary needs.

The cellar served medieval money changers as a meeting place where they conducted their business and gave the space its name. This function shows how important the location was to the city's commercial life.

The first-floor facade features four double arcades with blind arches at their ends, a decorative element added in the 16th century. This ornamental detail remains a rare surviving example of that building style.
