Lac de Paladru, Natural lake in Charavines, France.
Lac de Paladru is a natural lake in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region that spans across multiple communes. The water is bordered by four supervised beaches where swimmers can enjoy the water during summer months.
The Société du Lac de Paladru was established in 1874 and initially operated as a private estate. Since 1970, archaeological digs have brought artifacts from the lake floor to the surface for study.
The lake serves as a gathering place for swimming and water activities for people from the surrounding villages. Local communities use the beaches regularly for recreation and cooling off during the warmer season.
The lake has free parking, public restrooms, and multiple swimming areas with pleasant water temperatures in summer. Visitors should plan to come between June and September when water and air temperatures are most comfortable.
The lake bottom is covered with chalky deposits that give the water a milky appearance. This natural composition is often noticed by swimmers as having a soothing effect on the skin.
