Jardin public de Cherbourg

The Jardin Public de Cherbourg is a green space at the foot of Roule Mountain with arranged flower beds and shaded pathways. The grounds include a small zoo section with enclosures for deer and goats, as well as a pond where swans and ducks swim.

The park was established in 1887 as one of the first green spaces created for Cherbourg residents. It was part of the city's early urban development and continues to serve the community today.

The garden displays the historical portal of Voeu Abbey, discovered in 1892, which visitors can see integrated into the landscape. A bronze monument honors fallen soldiers and marks an important gathering point within the grounds.

The garden has children's play areas, picnic tables, and accessible pathways for all visitors. Start on the main path and allow time to explore the different sections throughout the grounds.

A natural spring feeds the pond where swans and ducks live, creating a small ecosystem often overlooked by visitors. This water feature draws birdwatchers and provides a quiet spot within the park.
