La Savane des esclaves

Three hectares of outdoor exhibits display traditional huts, reconstructed buildings, and botanical gardens that illustrate life during colonial Martinique's past.

Gilbert Larose established this educational space to document 400 years of Martinican history, from indigenous Kalinago communities through the period of slavery.

Twenty-five authentic wooden structures demonstrate traditional architecture, while the Creole garden presents local plants used for sustenance and medicine.

The museum operates Monday through Saturday from 9 AM to 4:30 PM, Sunday from 9 AM to 11:30 AM, with entry fees ranging from 5 to 12 euros.

Interactive displays include wooden statues, QR-coded exhibits, and demonstrations of cassava processing that connect visitors to Martinican ancestral practices.
