Les Bottières, Ski resort in Savoie, France
Les Bottières is a ski resort at 1300 meters altitude in the Savoy Alps, forming part of the larger Les Sybelles network. The terrain mixes forest runs with open mountain meadows and connects to more than 300 kilometers of slopes, with six beginner trails and two lifts serving the heart of the resort.
The resort was established in 1975 as a modern mountain destination designed to connect with neighboring ski areas from its beginning. Its creation reflected the expansion of winter sports infrastructure in the French Alps during that period.
The name comes from mountain pastures that once supported cattle herding, and visitors can still see how grazing lands blend with forested slopes. This mix of open meadows and tree-covered terrain shapes the visual character of the descent routes.
The resort is well organized for different skill levels, with beginners practicing on wide, gentle slopes and advanced skiers able to move toward steeper runs toward La Toussuire. Visitors should know that the location is easily accessible and offers good connections to the larger network of slopes.
A red forest route named La Chavonnerie winds through dense fir forests and past natural rest spots that provide varied breaks during the descent. Many visitors overlook this track in favor of more direct connections.
