Musée d'Art moderne de Céret, Modern art museum in Céret, France.

The Musée d'Art moderne de Céret is an art museum in southern France dedicated to modern artworks from the 20th century. The exhibition spaces are arranged across multiple levels and feature large windows that illuminate the collections with natural light.

The museum was founded in 1950 when Pierre Brune and Frank Burty Haviland established the institution with direct support from leading artists. This early collaboration with major 20th-century creators gave the museum a significant collection from its beginning.

The museum takes its name from Céret, a town that became a gathering place for artists throughout the 20th century. The collection reflects how this location drew creators from across Europe and continues to show how their works connect the region to the international art world.

The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday, with hours beginning in the morning and continuing into the early evening. For the best experience, plan to explore the collection at a relaxed pace and take advantage of curator-led tours when available.

One artist personally donated nearly 60 works to the institution, including a series of around 30 ceramic cups decorated with bullfighting scenes. This pottery collection is unusual for an art museum and shows the creator's broad range of artistic expression beyond painting.
