Palais de justice de Tours, Courthouse at Place Jean-Jaurès, Tours, France.

The Palais de Justice de Tours is a courthouse made of white stone located at Place Jean-Jaurès in Tours. The facade overlooks a large square toward the town hall, while behind it lies a hidden inner courtyard housing several courts including the Tribunal judiciaire.

The courthouse was built between 1840 and 1843 based on designs by Jean-Bernard Toussaint Jacquemin-Belisle and his son Jean-Charles. The architects chose Neo-Classicism, which aligned with the ideals for major public buildings of that time.

The building displays Neo-Classical features typical of 19th century French judicial architecture. Its white stone facade and symmetrical design reflect the formal ideals that were valued for public institutions at that time.

The building sits centrally on a busy square between the town hall and the main boulevards of Tours. Visitors should note that this is an active courthouse where access to certain areas may be restricted.

The courthouse combines multiple specialized courts under one roof, including the Tribunal pour enfants for child cases. This arrangement allows different types of proceedings to happen at one central location, streamlining the city's judicial operations.
