Parc Pourtalès

Parc Pourtalès is a public park in the Robertsau district that spans approximately 25 hectares with diverse landscape features. The grounds include tree-lined pathways, seating areas, and a collection of notable trees distributed across natural spaces.

The park originated in the late 19th century as a landscaped garden that developed over generations. The water features underwent significant changes, particularly in 2015 when the French Canal was reconstructed to restore historical water elements.

The park displays contemporary sculptures scattered along its paths, including Barry Flanagan's The Bowler, an anthropomorphic hare inspired by cricket players. These artworks invite visitors to discover them while exploring the grounds.

The grounds are accessible through multiple entry points and well connected by public transport. Visitors will find plenty of paths for walking and rest areas, with the adjacent Robertsau forest offering additional exploration possibilities.

The park surrounds an 18th-century château that once served as a gathering place for European high society. This historic building still shapes the park's character and tells of the location's elegant past.
