Réserve naturelle nationale du marais d'Yves

The reserve spans 1,206 hectares along the Atlantic coast, featuring mudflats, dry dunes, temporary ponds, marshes, reed beds, and wet grasslands.

The area remained submerged during Roman times and faced potential real estate development in the 1970s before its designation as a reserve in 1981.

The League for Bird Protection manages the site since 1982, conducting research and monitoring of 250 bird species that inhabit the protected area.

Visitors can participate in guided tours, bird watching sessions, and cycling excursions, with tickets starting at 8 euros for adults.

During winter, the reserve hosts approximately 20,000 waders, 1,500 ducks, and hundreds of greylag geese in its diverse wetland environments.
