Réserve naturelle régionale de Sainte Lucie

The Sainte Lucie Regional Nature Reserve extends across 835 hectares between the Mediterranean Sea and coastal lagoons, featuring ancient salt flats and pine forests.

The salt production activities on the site date back to 800, with a period of abandonment in the 13th century before industrial rehabilitation between 1828 and 1927.

The refuge building within the reserve has evolved from a monastery to a convent, agricultural estate, and hunting lodge throughout its existence.

The reserve offers cycling and walking trails along the Canal de la Robine, with access points from Narbonne and Port-la-Nouvelle, including parking facilities near the entrance.

The reserve functions as a migration corridor for numerous bird species, providing shelter for waders and passerines throughout the year.
