Tour Cristal, High-rise building in 15th arrondissement, Paris, France.
Tour Cristal is a tower block in the 15th arrondissement with 29 floors and a height of roughly 100 meters (328 feet). Its glass exterior catches and reflects sunlight throughout the day, creating a shimmering effect across the Front de Seine district.
The building was completed in 1990 following substantial changes to its original design from the early 1970s. The project evolved significantly during planning before its final glass structure was constructed.
The design of Tour Cristal draws inspiration from light studies by painter Salvador Dalí, incorporating angular glass surfaces throughout its structure.
The structure underwent major upgrades from 2007 to 2010, adding geothermal heating and cooling systems throughout. Visitors can best view the exterior from the riverbank or nearby streets around Front de Seine.
The tower sits near Pont de Grenelle with distinctly angled glass surfaces that set it apart from neighboring Front de Seine buildings. The faceted glass panels create different visual effects depending on the viewing angle and time of day.
