Blue Villa

Blue Villa is an Art Deco mansion in Barcelonnette featuring four distinct facades with symmetrical proportions and large windows. The colorful exterior surfaces extend across multiple stories and showcase the refined design typical of the period.

The house was built between 1929 and 1931 and commissioned by Camille Jean, who founded a major department store in Mexico City. Its construction took place during an era when successful merchants expressed their wealth through elaborate homes in Europe.

The stained glass windows and wrought iron details reflect the skilled craftsmanship that decorated French homes in the early 20th century. Walking through the rooms, you notice how these fine finishes were integrated into daily living spaces.

The house sits at the intersection of avenue Porfirio-Diaz and avenue de Berwick, making it easy to locate. It is surrounded by extensive gardens and park areas that provide space for exploring the grounds.

The central entry hall rises through two full stories and is lit from above by a skylight. A graceful spiral staircase seems to float within this space, connecting the levels and leading to the upper gallery.
