Villa Douce

Villa Douce is a red brick mansion with reinforced concrete features located on Boulevard de la Paix in Reims. The building combines two functional sections: one dedicated to notarial office work and the other to residential living.

Notary André Douce commissioned architect Pol Gosset in 1929 to design this residence, which was completed in 1934. Following its construction, the building served various roles in the community's development over the decades.

The music salon with its acoustic design and adjoining gallery reflect how social gatherings shaped the house's purpose. These spaces show how affluent residents of that era hosted cultural events within their homes.

The mansion stands on a wide boulevard in central Reims and is easy to reach on foot. Visitors should note that this is a protected private residence and can only be viewed from the exterior.

The interior design follows a streamlined style inspired by transatlantic ocean liners of the 1930s. This maritime aesthetic was a fashionable trend among wealthy homeowners of that era.
