Villa Ker Souveraine, Art Deco and Neoclassical villa in Pornichet, France
Villa Ker Souveraine is an Art Deco and Neoclassical building in Pornichet featuring four mermaid sculptures on its white facade. The house spreads across multiple levels with diverse architectural elements and ornate decorative details throughout its rooms.
The house was built in 1925 by architects Georges Vachon and Adrien Grave, commissioned by Suzanne De La Noue. Entrepreneur Lucien Rosengart funded this grand coastal residence.
Inside, rooms are decorated in different styles including Chinese, Louis XVI, and Breton themes, showing what wealthy owners liked in the early 1900s. Walking through these spaces reveals how people of that time mixed influences from different places and periods.
The building is located on Boulevard des Océanides and is now divided into separate apartments while keeping its protected status. You can admire it from outside, though it is private residential space today.
The frieze decoration on the facade includes a mask that appears to reproduce the facial features of the original owner, Suzanne De La Noue. This personal touch shows how closely the building was tied to the person who lived there.
