Villa Rothschild

Villa Rothschild is a neoclassical mansion located in the hills above Cannes with distinctive architectural features. The building has a rectangular floor plan with a central section spanning two to three stories, two side wings, and roughly 40 rooms throughout.

The Baroness Betty Rothschild commissioned the construction in 1881 after purchasing substantial land holdings in the Cannes area. The building reflects the peak era of aristocratic estates along the French Riviera.

The mansion now serves as a public media library where locals and visitors explore collections tied to the region's architectural heritage. This transformation shows how grand estates become gathering places for entire communities.

The site is open Monday through Saturday from 7 AM to 7 PM and closes on public holidays. Access runs through both the residence itself and its Mediterranean gardens, which welcome visitors year-round.

A rotunda terrace supported by eight pink marble columns extends from the south side and overlooks the surrounding park grounds. This architectural detail stands out as one of the property's most striking features and rewards a closer look while walking through the gardens.
