UGC Ciné Cité Les Halles is a multiplex with 27 screening rooms in a contemporary complex in central Paris. The venue accommodates roughly 3,900 viewers and combines current film formats with comfortable facilities for audiences.
The multiplex grew out of three earlier cinemas in the Forum des Halles. The Gaumont-Forum opened in autumn 1979 on level -3 with six screens and closed on 31 December 1998. Jean-Pierre Lemoine's Forum Horizon, designed by Christine and Dominique Carril, opened in 1986; UGC bought his halls in March 1992. In January 1995 the UGC Forum Horizon closed for fifteen months of works costing 140 million francs, becoming the UGC Ciné Cité.
The cinema forms a film hub with the Forum des images and the François-Truffaut cinema library along an underground passage named rue du Cinéma. In 2025 it showed 714 films, 370 of them art et essai, the most in France though it lacks the label. It is UGC's flagship, known for premieres attended by film teams.
The cinema sits in the Forum des Halles, reached by the Les Halles and Châtelet metro stations and the Châtelet - Les Halles RER station. It shares the underground rue du Cinéma with the Forum des images and the François-Truffaut film library. The 27 screens are numbered 1 to 37, so check the room number on your ticket.
