Saint Exupère church in Toulouse, Baroque church in Saint-Michel district, Toulouse, France

Saint Exupère Church is a baroque building in the Saint-Michel neighborhood featuring a distinctive octagonal bell tower that holds fourteen bells. Inside, there are plaster decorations and painted canvases from the 17th and 18th centuries, along with a large organ from the 19th century.

The building was constructed in 1620 as a chapel for Discalced Carmelites and later converted into a parish church. The name Saint Exupère was chosen in 1807 to honor an early Christian bishop of the city.

The church bears the name of a fourth-century bishop, carrying the spiritual history of Toulouse's early Christian community within its walls. Visitors sense this devotion through the artworks inside, which show how faith and craftsmanship were intertwined across centuries.

The church is easily accessible in the Saint-Michel neighborhood and you can see the exterior and facade at any time. To visit the interior and see features like the organ or artworks, check current opening times before planning your visit.

The facade displays a remarkable stone statue of Saint Joseph holding the Christ Child, crafted by a sculptor in the 17th century. This work is one of the most valuable sculptural elements on the exterior and catches visitors' attention immediately.
