Église Saint-François du Havre

The église Saint-François du Havre is a Gothic church marked by three entrance gates and a modest tower. Inside, Doric columns support the nave while vaulted aisles run along both sides, creating a sense of structured space.

Construction began in 1542 and faced interruptions during religious conflicts before the church was consecrated in 1638. The choir section was completed later, in 1687.

The Capuchin monks who arrived in 1590 shaped the veneration of Saint Francis of Assisi at this church. The Saint-François neighborhood grew around this religious center and maintains its own architectural character today.

The church remains open for regular services and is easily accessed through its main gates in the Saint-François district. The location offers good accessibility for visitors interested in exploring the religious architecture.

The tower holds four bells cast in 1891 by Adolphe Havard, each bearing its own name and distinct tone. These bells have rung out over the neighborhood for well over a century.
