Château de Brax

Château de Brax is a castle featuring four round towers topped with crenellated brick walls and a grand staircase at the rear. The structure shows layers of construction from different periods, with modifications visible throughout its design.

The castle was founded in the 13th century and underwent significant rebuilding during the 16th and 18th centuries, shaping its present form. These changes across the centuries reflect the evolving needs and tastes of successive owners.

The French Ministry of Culture designated Château de Brax as a protected historical monument in 1946, preserving its architectural legacy for future generations point.

The grounds are accessible via a double staircase at the front, but the castle remains privately owned. Visitors should check ahead regarding access restrictions, as the site is not always open to the public.

A circular walkway runs around the entire structure, featuring brick corbels and blind arcades that form distinctive machicolations. This architectural detail served as a practical defense method to ward off intruders.
