Parc zoologique de Plaisance du Touch, Wildlife park in Plaisance-du-Touch, France
Parc zoologique de Plaisance du Touch is a zoo in Plaisance-du-Touch, southwest of Toulouse, set within an old forest. The visit is divided into two parts: a drive-through section where visitors stay in their vehicles, and a walking area where they continue on foot.
The site was built on an old forested area that was gradually converted into animal enclosures. Over time, it grew into one of the largest drive-through zoos in southwestern France.
Some animals approach vehicles during the drive-through section, turning the tour into a direct encounter rather than a distant observation. On the walking paths, visitors can take their time watching animals at close range.
Visitors need their own vehicle for the drive-through section, as no shuttle is provided. It is worth planning enough time to also walk through the on-foot areas after the drive.
Ostriches regularly come right up to car windows during the drive-through and sometimes peer inside. It is one of the few places where visitors can have this kind of close contact with these large flightless birds.
