Otsogorrigaña, Mountain summit in Navarre, Spain and Soule, France.
Otsogorrigaña is a mountain peak at 1923 meters (6309 feet) situated at the border between Spain and France. The summit features limestone rock, open meadows, and thick forests of beech and pine covering the slopes.
The mountain area contains a series of boundary markers numbered from point 237 to 246 that have guided people crossing the border for centuries. These stone markers proved essential in navigating across the frontier during foggy weather.
The name comes from Basque words that suggest either 'high of the red wolf' or 'high of the bald wolf'. This naming reflects how local people historically understood the landscape and its wildlife.
Hiking trails to the summit start from several locations, including Larrau pass and Mintxate valley. The routes require moderate hiking experience and sturdy footwear due to steep sections and rocky terrain.
At the summit sits a metal mailbox left by C.M. Anaitasuna mountaineering group for visitors to leave messages. The location offers sweeping views toward neighboring peaks like Barazea and Lakartxela.
