Fame Riding Pegasus, Stone sculpture in Tuileries Garden, France
The marble sculpture depicts Fame, personified as a goddess, mounted on the mythical winged horse Pegasus in a dynamic forward motion.
Created between 1698 and 1702 by Antoine Coysevox, this sculpture stood at the entrance of Marly park before its relocation to Tuileries Garden in 1719.
The sculpture represents the intersection of French Baroque art and classical mythology, combining royal celebration themes with ancient storytelling traditions.
Located in the western section of Tuileries Garden, the current stone version replaced the original marble sculpture, which is now preserved in the Louvre Museum.
The sculpture measures 3.26 meters in height and 2.91 meters in width, featuring intricate details that demonstrate the technical precision of French classical sculpture.
