Marguerite d'Angoulême, Marble statue in Jardin du Luxembourg, France
The marble statue of Marguerite d'Angoulême stands 2.30 meters tall on a stone base in the formal gardens of Luxembourg Palace grounds.
Joseph-Stanislas Lescorné created this sculpture in 1848 as part of a ministerial commission that cost 12,000 French Francs at the time.
The statue belongs to the Queens of France and Famous Women collection, which honors notable female figures throughout French history.
The statue remains accessible to visitors during garden opening hours, from early morning until sunset, with variations according to seasons.
Marguerite d'Angoulême negotiated her brother King Francis I's release from Spanish captivity and later became an influential Renaissance literature patron.
