Laure de Noves, Marble statue in Jardin du Luxembourg, France

Laure de Noves is a marble sculpture depicting a woman holding papers or scrolls in her hands while standing on a stone pedestal. The figure is located in the western terrace of the Jardin du Luxembourg as part of a larger collection of statues.

Auguste Ottin created this marble figure in the 19th century on commission from the French royal court. The sculpture was part of an ambitious project honoring notable women in French history.

This marble figure represents a woman whose life inspired countless poems and literary works across centuries. Visitors can observe how her story was transformed into art and placed among other celebrated women in this garden setting.

This statue is located near the western pathways of the garden where several routes converge. Visitors can easily find it by following the main walkways in the western section.

This figure is part of a series of twenty marble sculptures representing women from different periods of French history. This collection was a 19th-century attempt to permanently honor significant female figures in public space.
