The Monument to Leconte de Lisle stands 3.8 meters tall, featuring the French poet carved in white marble within the Luxembourg Gardens of Paris.

Denys Puech created this monument in 1898, following his victory at the Prix de Rome competition, where he secured first place in 1884.

The statue commemorates Charles Marie Rene Leconte de Lisle, who translated Greek tragedies and worked as an assistant librarian at the Luxembourg Palace.

The cylindrical base of the statue contains inscriptions detailing the achievements of Leconte de Lisle, who was born on Reunion Island.
