Place de la Pucelle-d'Orléans, Rouen, Historical square in center of Rouen, France

Place de la Pucelle-d'Orléans is a public square in the heart of Rouen that links several medieval streets together. It sits next to the Vieux-Marché square and is ringed by shops and buildings spanning different time periods.

The square took its present form through urban redevelopment after Rouen suffered heavy damage during World War II. In 1994, construction workers uncovered a Roman fountain from the third century, which was later relocated.

The square is named after Joan of Arc, who was executed in Rouen. Visitors notice this connection through inscriptions and memorials scattered around the space.

The square is easily reached on foot from the train station and sits within a well-connected pedestrian district with multiple routes. Underground parking beneath the square offers convenient parking for visitors arriving by car.

An annual African market sets up on the square and fills the medieval surroundings with color and energy. This blend of old architecture and present-day commerce shows how the area remains alive today.
