Église de la Conception de Bastia, Historic Catholic church in Terra Vechja district, Bastia, France
The baroque portal, added in 1704, leads to an interior where walls display silk damask and Genoese velvet from the late 16th century.
From 1636 to 1666, this building served as the parish church for Terra Vechja district while Saint-Jean-Baptiste church underwent reconstruction work.
The ceiling paintings from the 17th century received enhancements in 1855 by an Italian team directed by Florentine painter Bernardo Francesci Sieni.
The church stands on Rue Napoleon near Place du Marche, making it easily accessible for visitors exploring the historical center of Bastia.
In 1795, the church transformed into the parliament of the Anglo-Corsican Kingdom, with a throne placed before the altar for King George III.
