Casino municipal d'Aix-en-Provence, Entertainment complex in Aix-en-Provence, France.
The Municipal Casino of Aix-en-Provence was an entertainment complex with Art Deco architecture featuring reinforced concrete construction and decorative elements on its facade and interior spaces. The facility offered gaming areas, a performance hall, and a restaurant called Le Vendôme.
Built between 1922 and 1923, the facility operated as a gaming establishment until 1993 when it ceased operations. It received protected monument status in 1995 before its demolition in 2003.
The interior featured Neo-Provençal design elements that reflected local building traditions of the region. A fireplace relief created by sculptor Botinelly demonstrated the craftsmanship valued in Aix-en-Provence during that period.
The casino was located at 2 Bonaparte Avenue near Place de la Rotonde, making it easily accessible in the city center. This central position meant visitors could combine their visit with exploring nearby squares and cafes.
After demolition, architectural elements from the building were salvaged and relocated, including a fountain now displayed in Robert Lagier Square. This preserved water feature remains a tangible reminder of the former gaming establishment.
