La Serrie, Mountain summit in Massif du Diois, France
La Serrie is a 1,314 meter (4,311 feet) summit located in the Massif du Diois in the Drôme department of southeastern France. The peak sits within the Dauphiné Prealps and is accessible via marked hiking trails from nearby villages.
The peak formed during the Alpine orogeny when African and European tectonic plates collided millions of years ago. This geological event created the Dauphiné Prealps as they exist today.
Shepherds have used these slopes for grazing for generations, and you can still see their flocks moving across the Alpine meadows during your climb. This pastoral tradition has shaped the appearance of the mountain landscape.
The best climbing season runs from June through September when conditions are most favorable for hiking. Marked trails depart from several nearby villages and wind through the surrounding terrain.
From the summit you can see directly across to Grand Veymont, another prominent peak in the region. This view reveals the dramatic ridge structure that defines these mountains.
