Suc de Montfol, Mountain summit in Ardèche, France
Suc de Montfol is a summit in the Massif Central mountains of Ardèche, standing at about 1,600 meters (5,250 feet) high. The peak is part of a larger volcanic mountain range that dominates the landscape of central France.
The mountain formed through volcanic activity millions of years ago when this part of the Massif Central was shaped by ancient lava flows. This geological process created the mountainous terrain that still defines the Ardèche landscape today.
The summit stands as the fourth highest peak in Ardèche department, contributing to the regional identity of the mountainous landscapes.
Several hiking trails lead to the summit, with most routes taking between two to four hours depending on where you start. The most accessible approach is from nearby villages, where marked paths guide you up to the peak.
Among 9,119 peaks in the Massif Central, Suc de Montfol ranks as the 58th highest, featuring a prominence of 121 meters.
