Émetteur de l'aiguille du Midi

The Émetteur de l'aiguille du Midi is a broadcasting station at the Aiguille du Midi summit, sitting 3842 meters high in the French Alps. The structure rises about 29 meters above the mountain peak and forms a striking technical installation on the rock.

The broadcasting station was built by TDF to provide television and radio coverage across the mountainous regions of Haute-Savoie. It was created to reach the isolated Alpine valleys with modern communication signals.

The antenna shows how modern technology has been woven into the traditional landscape of the Mont Blanc massif. It stands at a place where nature and human infrastructure meet.

The site is only accessible by cable car from Chamonix going up the mountain. Plan your visit during good weather, as the summit is often clouded over.

The broadcasting equipment operates at the highest elevation of any French transmitter, allowing it to distribute signals across difficult mountain terrain. This high altitude position enables signal coverage that no other French transmitter can achieve.
