Le Buisseron, Mountain summit in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France.
Le Buisseron is a summit in the Préalpes of Haute-Provence, standing at 1,117 meters high. Its slopes hold a mix of Mediterranean plants and mountain vegetation adapted to this intermediate altitude.
This peak is part of an ancient mountain range that formed during the Alpine building phase millions of years ago. Those geological changes shaped the landscape we see in Provence today.
Shepherds in the area have long used these slopes to graze their herds, shaping how the land looks and changes with the seasons. This traditional practice has kept the mountain meadows healthy and diverse.
Several clearly marked trails climb to the summit starting from the nearby villages of Ongles and Lardiers. Parking is available at the main trailheads for easy access.
The slopes serve as a protected habitat for golden eagles and harbor plant species found nowhere else with this combination. These rare species thrive in this zone where two different ecosystems meet.
