Amiens Synagogue, Modern synagogue in Amiens, France

Amiens Synagogue is a modern building with clean geometric lines and a minimalist facade featuring a Menorah symbol and Star of David patterns decorating its walls. The structure incorporates specially designed window openings shaped like Stars of David that allow light to filter through the interior spaces.

The current building opened in 2017 and replaced two earlier structures, including one seized during World War II that was later restored to the community. The new construction allowed the congregation to have a purpose-built space reflecting contemporary needs and architectural vision.

The synagogue serves as a gathering place for the local Jewish communities, hosting prayer services and educational activities throughout the year. Its role in the neighborhood reflects the ongoing presence and engagement of these communities in civic life.

The synagogue is located at 38 rue du Port d'Amont and welcomes visitors who arrange their visit in advance through the administrative office. Planning ahead ensures you can visit during appropriate times and receive a proper welcome.

Architect Paul Chemetov incorporated Bauhaus design principles into the building, creating star-shaped window openings that appear throughout the structure. This thoughtful approach merges contemporary architecture with Jewish symbolism in a subtle and refined way.
