Plage de l'Océan

Plage de l'Océan is a sports beach on the Atlantic coast near Anglet featuring fine sand and designated areas for different water activities. The shoreline is divided into zones for swimming, surfing, and beach sports competitions.

From the late 20th century onwards, this coastal area evolved into an organized sports venue. The transformation enabled it to host regional and international competitions on its shoreline.

Surfing competitions and beach volleyball tournaments draw athletes from France and beyond to this location. The sandy expanse serves as a natural gathering place where the local community connects through water sports traditions.

Lifeguards are on duty during summer months, and various zones are clearly marked for different uses. Visitors should be aware of tidal changes, as they affect the beach space and sports activities.

During low tide, firm sand flats form naturally, creating enough space for more than 200 sports matches to happen at the same time. This tidal feature makes the beach an exceptional location for large-scale sporting events.
