Pic de Calm Colomer, Mountain peak in Meranges, Spain and France
Pic de Calm Colomer is a mountain summit in the Pyrenees near the Spanish-French border with an elevation of around 2900 meters, composed primarily of granodiorite rock. The peak overlooks the valleys and slopes of the surrounding mountainous terrain that characterizes this region.
The summit was first activated in September 2023 for the Summits on the Air radio program by Alberto EA3GNU/P. This was the first documented activation of this peak for the international amateur radio community.
Local shepherds from surrounding valleys maintain traditional seasonal grazing practices on the mountain slopes during summer months.
The hike to this peak requires proper mountain gear and good physical fitness. Summer months from June through September offer the most favorable conditions for the ascent.
The peak marks the exact point where three municipalities meet: Porta, Lles de Cerdanya, and Meranges. This triple boundary location makes it a distinctive reference point for hikers navigating the border region.
