Pic de Fontfreda

Pic de Fontfreda is a mountain summit in the French Pyrenees that rises to 2,738 meters. The peak features a broad plateau with two distinct high points that define its structure.

The mountain has been climbed since the early days of regional mountaineering in the Pyrenees. Routes and ascents have been documented through successive generations of climbers.

The summit forms part of the FEEC100 list, a collection of peaks recognized for their significance in the French-Catalan mountain climbing tradition.

The main hiking route departs from Porté-Puymorens and follows an established trail to the summit. This intermediate trek requires good fitness and an early start to allow sufficient time for the ascent and return.

The north face of the summit draws technical rock climbers seeking challenging routes and steep terrain. This section offers serious climbing challenges for those seeking more than a simple walk to the peak.
