Baie de Somme Picardie maritime

The Baie de Somme Picardie maritime extends over 134,458 hectares, encompassing limestone cliffs, pebble beaches, estuaries, dunes, marshlands, and the largest forest in Somme department.

The park received its official designation through a decree on July 28, 2020, following recommendations from the National Council for Nature Protection in September 2019.

The park maintains a balance between coastal and inland activities through 136 municipalities, supporting local agriculture and preserving natural resources across the territory.

The park headquarters, located at Garopôle near Abbeville train station, provides information and guidance for visitors exploring the protected landscapes.

The territory features 70 kilometers of diverse coastline, including alkaline peat bogs, rear-coastal marshes, hedgerow plateaus, and dry valleys.
