Château de Didonne

Château de Didonne is an 18th century castle in Semussac surrounded by tall coniferous trees on its grounds. The building displays classical French architecture with multiple rooms and expansive outdoor spaces.

The castle was originally called La Touche before taking its current name in the mid-1700s. Major reconstruction work between 1754 and 1758 transformed it under Jean-Charles de Sennecterre's leadership.

The building served as a residence for nobility and still shows how the aristocratic families lived and managed their estates from here. Walking through the grounds, you can see traces of their daily life in the design of the rooms and gardens.

The castle sits close to the coast and is easily accessible when exploring the wider area. Visitors should allow time for the outdoor spaces since the grounds with their trees and gardens offer much to explore.

The castle has a farming history that visitors often overlook after it was converted into agricultural use in the 20th century. This transformation shows how historic noble estates sometimes adapted to new purposes.
