Château de Miramont

The Château de Miramont stands on elevated ground with a central section bordered by two symmetric wings ending in individual roofed pavilions.

Built between the late 17th and early 18th centuries for Gabrielle Caubotte de Miramont, the château replaced a 10th-century fortress of Viscount Loup of Lavedan.

Poet Cyprien Despourrins resided in the château from 1729 until 1759, contributing to the literary heritage of the Hautes-Pyrénées region.

Visitors can access the château during European Heritage Days, offering a chance to explore its four levels and distinctive architectural features.

The property includes a monumental two-story library created by journalist Jacques Chancel, who hosted a meeting between Nicolas Sarkozy and François Bayrou in 2004.
