L'Enjambée, Bicycle bridge across Meuse River in Namur, Belgium.
L'Enjambée is a steel structure spanning approximately 180 meters across the Meuse River, connecting downtown Namur with the residential district of Jambes. The bridge features a wide, flat deck designed to separate bicycle and foot traffic comfortably while allowing smooth passage in both directions.
The bridge was built as part of Namur's plan to improve cycling infrastructure and officially opened on May 11, 2020. It emerged from a broader strategy to encourage more people to choose bicycles over cars for everyday travel.
The bridge has become a symbol of shifting daily mobility in the city, where cycling increasingly shapes how people move between home and work. You can observe locals of all ages using it as a natural route through their neighborhood.
The bridge is open year-round and connects seamlessly with the RAVeL network, which offers numerous cycling routes along the Meuse River. From this point, visitors can easily ride longer distances in either direction and explore various riverside paths.
The bridge incorporates special design features to reduce wind effects on cyclists while maintaining clear views of the Citadelle above. This makes it one of the few structures in the area where rider comfort and landscape visibility are so carefully balanced.
