Casino Municipal is a gaming and theatre building on the Allée du Mail in La Rochelle, facing the water behind a stone seawall. Its main block has pale cream walls and a shallow hipped roof of red-orange tiles with a small ridge chimney. To the left, a single-storey section with a flat roof and scalloped parapet fronts a long terrace under a white canopy on slender posts; rectangular white-framed windows sit above a dark green band of shrubs.

The Casino de La Rochelle began on 10 June 1827 as the Établissements de Bains de mer Marie-Thérèse, opened under the patronage of the Duchess of Angoulême. In 1902 the city of La Rochelle acquired the Bains Marie-Thérèse and enlarged the establishment, adding a performance hall and landscaping the surroundings. The Groupe Barrière later took over management of the casino.

The casino's name recalls the Bains Marie-Thérèse, the sea-bathing establishment opened on 10 June 1827 under the patronage of the Duchess of Angoulême. The site later passed to the town and to Groupe Barrière, which manages the casino today. The building stands on the allée du Mail, facing the water.

The location is central in La Rochelle and easily reached on foot from most parts of the city. Visitors should know the venue operates both daytime and evening hours to accommodate different activities and preferences.
