Hôtel Landolfo-Carcano

Hôtel Landolfo-Carcano, Private mansion in 8th arrondissement of Paris, France.

The Hôtel Landolfo-Carcano is an imposing residence located at 1 Rue de Tilsitt featuring Second Empire architectural style with Corinthian columns and ornate painted ceilings overlooking the Arc de Triomphe. The building contains multiple richly decorated rooms across several floors and currently serves as a diplomatic residence.

The mansion was built in 1867 by architect Charles Rohault de Fleury for Anne-Marie Adèle Caussin, who later received the title of Marquise de Landolfo-Carcano in 1889. The residence was part of Napoleon III's ambitious renovation of the Étoile district during the mid-1800s.

The second floor features a black and gold decorated room displaying artistic representations of the Five Senses across its walls. The painted ceilings follow classical themes and create an ornate interior that reflects the refined tastes of its original occupants.

The residence currently functions as a foreign embassy and is not open to the public for interior visits. The location is easily accessible by metro, with the Charles de Gaulle - Étoile station situated nearby for convenient transportation.

This residence is one of the Hôtels des Maréchaux, a collection of twelve mansions commissioned by Napoleon III during the 1850s renovation of the Étoile district. These palatial homes were part of a grand urban vision that transformed the area around the Arc de Triomphe.
