Abattoir d'Alès

The Alès slaughterhouse is a municipal facility in the Bruèges industrial zone that processes cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, farmed game, and equines. The plant operates with modern equipment designed to handle livestock processing for regional agricultural suppliers.

The facility faced temporary closure in 2015 following media reports about operational concerns. This was followed by comprehensive renovations that modernized equipment and conditions between 2015 and 2019.

The facility represents a critical link in the local livestock industry, supporting approximately one hundred farmers in the Gard department.

The facility is located in a designated industrial zone and is easily accessible by car. Visits should be arranged in advance since this is an active production facility that does not allow casual access.

The facility's production decreased from 5,200 tons in 2014 to 2,600 tons in 2018, before recovering to 3,700 tons by 2020.
